Q. What kind of countertops should I use?
A. Countertop choices range in materials, cost and durability. We work with fabricators that offer Natural Granite Stone, Engineered Stone (such as Caesarstone), Solid Surfaces (Such as Corian) and Laminate (Such as Wilsonart). Here are a few highlight of each:

  • Granite is Natural Stone that comes from mountains and are cut from Solid Blocks into 3/4" - 1 1/4" thick slabs. The look and the feel of this real stone is unlike any other material. Some slabs are consistent in pattern which other contain lots and variation and character. While it is extremely durable, natural stone is porous, so it requires sealing on a yearly basis (easily accomplished by the homeowner). Many edge profiles are available with this material.
  • Engineered Stone is a blend of quartz and resins that form a hard, durable surface, with a feel similar to granite. The colors and patterns have very little variations which provide a consistent appearance. This material is very durable, handles heat well, and will require little maintenance.
  • Solid surface countertops are typically acrylic products that are durable and very adaptable. It has moderate heat resistance and hard-to-find seams. Solid surface tops can scratch, but they can be repaired easily.
  • Laminate offers and endless amount of colors and a number of textured finishes. It wears fairly well and doesn't require any sealing. The seams are visible and it has almost no reparability and it is the least expensive countertop option.
